Warcraft: Orc and Human
Warcraft is one of the funnest games I have ever played on a computer. Made by the good people at Blizzard Entertainment,this game is challenging, stratistic, and satifies my lust for blood.
Story
The story to Warcraft is very interesting and complicated. The story takes place in a land called Azeroth. Everthing was happy and peaceful there, being ruled by the fair and just King Wrynn. A child sorcerer was born, named Medivh between the court Conjurer and a mysterious traveler. The child becomes ill one night at age 12 and falls into a coma. When he wakes, he is strong and powerful with magic. He walked into the Kings court and handed him an hourglass. When the sand ran to the bottom, the reign of the king would fall. The glass did not empty untill Six years passed, and crops began to fail, people were getting sick, and odd weather was brought to Azeroth. When the sands emptied, evil bloodthirsty deforminations of humans came to Azeroth and a huge battle took place. Where do you fall into this story? You control either Orcs or Humans and fight for dominence of the land. (Of course, there is much more to the story)
Gameplay
You control your army with an overhead veiw. When you click on your troops, you can make them do differant actions. What your goal for most of the levels is to destroy your opponent, but first you have to build up an army. There are all kinds of troops too, like:
Human Units:
- Peasants-can chop wood, mine gold, build structures or repair them.
- Footman-the normal ground troop. He attacks with his sword and blocks with his shield.
- Archer-a unit that can attack from a distance. Not as strong as footman, but still very handy in numbers.
- Catapult-this machine of war is very powerful, but has to attack from long range.
- Knight-these bad boys are mounted on horses and attack with might maces. Have the characteristics of a footman but faster and stronger.
- Clerics-the holy men of the army can heal wounded units, can attack too, but isn't very powerful.
- Conjuers-these magicks can summon scorpions to attack their enimies, or can summon water elementals, which are really powerful.
Orcish Units:
Note: you may notice that the orc units are the equivelant of human troops, exept for the magic ones.
- Peon-like a peasant, can chop wood,mine gold, and build or repair structures.
- Grunt-the basic orc troop. With a mighty axe and short temper, these guys don't qualify in the "nice guy" list.
- Spearman-just like a grunt exept throws a spear insted of hacking with an axe.
- Catapult-just like the human one.
- Raider-mounted on wolves, these grunts are very fierce.
- Necrolyte-these dark magic orcs can raise dead.....something that can really frustrate you if your battleing them.
- Warlock-these satanic orcs can summon giant spiders and demons.
Graphics
The graphics in this game....well....
they are OK, but really aren't that good. But what do graphics matter?
Sound
The sound in this game is pretty good. When you click on one of your units, they respond by saying something like, "What?!", or "Yes?" and it pretty funny when you continulesly click on them, they say something like,"STOP POKING ME!!!"
Overall
Overall, this game rocks. I highly recommend buying this. But I'd recommend even more to get Warcraft 2 if your computer can take it.
